Sofia Digital is operating as a custodian for Finnish Cable Ready certification process. Cable Ready process is defined by the Finnish Cable Television Operators and is currently owned by Finnish Federation for  Communications and Teleinformatics (Ficom).  Cable Ready certification is meant for the cable  receivers targeted to Finnish Cable TV Networks.

Cable Ready logo in the digital receiver indicates that the receiver and its software have passed a rigorous functional test process and is suitable for a cable receiver in Finnish Cable TV Networks.

Over 50 percent of Finnish households are connected to the cable TV network where a suitable digital receiver is required to receive broadcast TV transmissions. Last remaining analogue transmissions will be terminated on the 29th February 2008. After this date transmissions will be exclusively digital.

Receivers that have passed the Cable Ready process have been certified to be suitable for use in the Finnish Cable TV networks. In addition they can be automically updated to the latest software version via the cable network. Updating the Cable Ready certified receiver is effortless and ensures that the receiver is always up-to- date.

The test specification and requirements are based on the Nordig test specification and are amended with special requirements concerning the Finnish Cable TV environment. The basic test set covers basic ("zapper") boxes. The basic test set is supplemented with additional test cases for PVR boxes. Also televisions with integrated digital tuners can be tested and certified.

The test areas include front-end RF testing, hardware testing (demultiplexer, video/audio decoder, memory and graphics processing) and system software testing. (SI, navigator, DVB and teletext subtitling, remote control and user preferences).
