Sofia Digital expands to mobile-to-TV services by acquiring Outer Rim.
Sofia Digital grows its product portfolio and strengthens its competence with the acquisition. Outer Rim will be incorporated into Sofia Digital as two separate business units, SMS TV Products unit and Service Operations unit. Sofia Digital's product portfolio will expand significantly and now includes SMS TV games, MHP products and services and cross-media services combining television, Internet and mobility. "Sofia Digital is the number one in Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) based interactive TV application market. Now we can offer interactive TV services which work on analog as well as digital platforms. New hybrid products are also coming soon", comments Petri Martikainen, Sofia Digital's CEO. Outer Rim's CEO, Olli Väätäinen, will join Sofia Digital board of directors. He is also appointed Vice President of Service Operations. "We can now offer our solutions as services as well. Customers can choose between turnkey deliveries and fully hosted and operated services", Väätäinen comments. "Thanks to Sofia Digital's international sales and distribution network, Outer Rim's products are now available all around the world." Services using mobile phone, Internet and TV are rapidly growing business area globally, especially in Europe. Sofia Digital's aim is to be one of the leading players in the field. |
