| Sofia Backstage® Starter Kit for DVB-H |
 Sofia Backstage® Starter Kit for DVB-H offers operators
and service providers a single box platform to test,
demonstrate and trial mobile TV and interactive services
in a very simple way. The Starter Kit platform is a
complete end-to-end solution including all necessary
hardware, software and service examples with content
authoring and management system to create a DVB-H
broadcast signal with interactive content for use with real
DVB-H terminals.Interactive services are created and managed with Sofia Backstage® for DVB-H solution which is included in the Starter Kit. Content authoring is done with well-known Internet technologies. Sofia Stage® Browser for DVB-H is a Java-based client which can be made available from the broadcast network or from Internet. Sofia Stage® Browser for DVB-H uses cellular networks as the return channel which allows the media content to be distributed simultaneously on the DVB-H network and on cellular network. Interactive services that are created and managed using Sofia Backstage® are packaged into filecast streams, combined with AV content by the internal DVB-H head-end and transmitted to nearby devices with a mini transmitter – all from one box. A key factor in the success of mobile TV is interactivity. Consumer experience can be controlled in creative ways with interactivity and it will integrate the world of broadcast content with on-demand services. This will bring opportunities for new, compelling applications that will increase the operators ARPU. DVB-H is the leading technology for bringing the broadcast TV to handheld devices.
