New Sofia Digital solution in Digita DVB-H network
The first DVB-H specific interactive TV channels have been introduced in Finland as part of the current DVB-H pilot on Digita operated DVB-H network. Sofia Digital has delivered to Digita interactive Radio on Mobile TV solution based on Sofia Backstage® including content and interactivity management solution.
Radio on Mobile TV offers mobile TV viewers a new way to enjoy radio services by presenting a customized video feed for the radio channel on mobile TV. The customized video feed contains information about the current song being played, additional information about the radio program and interactive services linked to the current program. With this solution radio channel on mobile TV can contain also live video for example from the radio studio. Sofia Digital solution enables new revenue opportunities for radio channels including general and program specific interactive services, mobile TV specific content and visual advertising.
Sofia Backstage® is integrated to Digita head-end and is used for generating the video feed content and interactivity broadcast to mobile TV users. Previously deployed Sofia Backstage® EPG Manager provides program data information also for the radio channels.
The new channels will be available during the pilot in Digita operated DVB-H network in Helsinki, Tampere, Oulu and Turku regions. The network covers approximately 32% of Finns. To be able to view mobile TV the mobile handset needs to have a DVB-H compatible receiver.
Radio on Mobile TV and other Sofia Digital Mobile TV solutions are demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona on February 11-14 on the Sofia Digital stand 1F01 at exhibition hall 1.
